The City of Spokane’s Planning Services Department is responsible for managing the City’s growth and comprehensive planning strategies. This department oversees all City planning functions and directs the programming and enforcement of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and associated land use regulations.
We are seeking a Planning Services Director capable of providing strategic leadership and support to the Planning Services Department.  In this role, you will plan, organize, administer and direct the activities of the Planning Department, which consists of a staff of approximately 10+ employees.  You will assist the division director in developing and implementing long-range strategies to ensure the economic health and vitality of the City.  You will provide leadership and coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies.  You will be expected to execute independent judgment and action within City policies in budgeting, resource management and public policy.  In this role, you will serve as the secretary to the City Plan Commission and serve as the Chief Planning Professional.
The Planning Services Director will report to the Business and Development Services Division Director.
