LSA’s Carlsbad office is seeking an Assistant Planner with environmental planning experience (1 to 2 years preferred) and a BS/BA in environmental studies, urban planning, or a related field.
The Assistant Planner will provide support for a variety of planning projects, primarily CEQA and NEPA analyses (e.g., Initial Studies, EAs, EIRs, and EISs). Under the direction of a Project Manager, the Assistant Planner will perform a variety of tasks, including: conducting research and site surveys; analyzing a project’s consistency with planning policies and regulations; compiling and analyzing data (e.g., demographic, public utilities, public services); and drafting technical memos, staff reports, and/or topical sections of documents.
Experience working on transportation projects subject to Caltrans requirements is a plus. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive as a member of a fast-paced team are essential. This is a project hire position; weekly workload may be variable.
