The City of Ames is recruiting a planner to join the Planning Division of the Planning and Housing Department.  
Job Description:
Under general supervision, works independently to implement the City’s development standards, including zoning, subdivision, and other regulations, and the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This is both a front-line planning position working directly with customers on development proposals permitting, code compliance, and inquiries; and also a long-range planning position involved in comprehensive planning, research, and policy development. Salary Range: $53,567.90 - $78,315.33 (DOQ)
Closing Date: March 30, 2015
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, geography or closely related field, and three years experience in private or local government planning office. 
• Valid Iowa driver’s license
• Must be able to attend various assigned evening meetings such as Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustments, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Professional designation by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desirable.
