SALARY RANGE: $63,800 - $79,800 Depending on Qualifications

Located in the Chicago metropolitan area, Lake County is known for its abundant water resources. SMC is responsible for countywide stormwater management; including the development and implementation of comprehensive watershed management plans and projects. Under general supervision, this position must exercise considerable professional and technical judgment and initiative to develop watershed plans and implement watershed projects.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, environmental studies, civil engineering or related field and 2 years experience in storm water management.
Desired skills & experience: The successful candidate will have professional training and experience in watershed-planning and project implementation of Best Management Practices directed to flood damage reduction, water quality improvement and natural resource protection. Specialized knowledge or experience in stormwater regulations, wetlands, conservation development, grantsmanship, and experience with GIS is desired, but not required. The successful candidate will lead multi-disciplinary teams of staff and consultants, and must have excellent project management, communication and leadership skills. This position will represent SMC to elected officials, local governments, planning committees, the general public and related federal/state agencies.
