Planning Director – Bath Charter Township (www.bathtownship.us) seeks a creative and innovative thinker.
Bath Township (population 11,598) is located in Clinton County, Michigan, minutes from Michigan State University. Bath was the 17th fastest growing community in the state of Michigan (2000-2010) and 5th overall in terms of population increase. This urban growth is balanced by much open space in the Township; preserving the rural character through responsible and focused development are goals of the Master Plan.
This position is responsible for overall management of the Planning Department to implement the planning vision for environmentally and fiscally responsible growth of the Township. The Planning Director serves as staff liaison to the Planning Commission and Downtown Development Authority. Additional responsibilities include implementation of the Master Plan, coordinating development review process, and planning and conducting context appropriate economic development efforts.
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Four years of experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and sound judgment are required. American Institute of Certified Planners certification strongly preferred.
