The Community Development Director position provides the opportunity to work with a progressive City Manager and a supportive City Council, while joining a city embarking on exciting economic development opportunities as it undertakes the revitalization of its downtown. To date, the city has broken ground on more than $94 million in vital capital projects as part of $150 million of planned infrastructure improvements. There are three divisions within the Community Development Department: the Building and Permit Services Division, the Planning Division, and the Administrative Services Division. Department staffing is comprised of 23.5 budgeted positions plus a part-time historic preservation consultant.
The Community Development Director directs the department and assures the effective coordination of programs and strategies required to meet the city’s goals and objectives, and directs planning, zoning, building, permitting, and code enforcement functions.
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Business or Public Administration (Master's degree preferred); AND five years of experience managing community development and urban planning programs, including supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
