Job Title: LTL Transportation Analyst

This position performs various functions including the managing of all agent network customer service request (CSR), their review, approval, and entry. Position will work closely with sales agents to format account specific pricing and communicate with core carrier base for approval and implementation of approved rates. Position requires experience with carrier tariffs and rate bases as well as experience with analyzing account profitability. Experience with transportation software Mercurygate, CzarLite and SMC software a must. The position requires the ability to converse with 1st Priority Services clients and agents to train on MercuryGate system set up and usage. Position will require some travel to visit either clients or agents for training purposes. Position will work closely with Director of Operations, VP of Sales, Regional Managers and Station Relations Manager to coordinate the needs and requests of clients, sales agents and core carrier partners.
Responsibilities:
Work is typically performed with little supervision, with only guidance about overall goals and objectives. Usually receive minimal to no guidance about how to complete work objectives. Must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long term goals of the department. Able to independently evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, and incorporate in to overall work objectives.
Format account specific pricing request and negotiate with carriers for approval and manage implementation.
Utilize existing exception management tools to identify and communicate exceptions
Interpret agent and customer issues and resolve or forward to appropriate party for resolution according to established guidelines.
Build effective relationships with internal staff, clients and sales agent network.
Train new and existing clients in the use of the MercuryGate system either by Webinars or in person
Train new stations in the sales and operational use of the MercuryGate system.
Present various training, updates and SOPS to agent network as required.
Assist as required as an internal resource for the development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
Complete all required documentation and pricing requests in a timely manner.
Demonstrate professional behaviors at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

1) Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work preferred or role with 5-7 years of multi-mode transportation OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience. Experience working for a common carrier preferred and transportation experience, including LTL distribution, required.
2) Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Able to communicate clearly and courteously with those who need to know of decisions/actions/problems. Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.
3) Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing using Microsoft Office software, transportation software and IT background. Experience with transportation software, CzarLite and SMC software a must. Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments.
4) Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others. Must be service oriented
5) Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted.
6) Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.
7) Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.
8) Knowledge of distribution concepts, practices and procedures a must.
