Job Description

NACHC Spring/Summer 2011 Research Internship

The National Association of Community Health Centers is a national, non-profit organization advocating on behalf of America's health centers. NACHC's mission is to promote the provision of high-quality, comprehensive health care that is accessible, coordinated, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and community directed for all underserved populations. The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is seeking a Spring/Summer Research Intern (May - August) to provide support to NACHC's Department of Research within the Division of Programs and Policy.

Research Internship Description

Candidates must have interest in improving health for medically underserved communities. This position largely consists of general research and analysis on health centers, Medicaid, access to care issues, health disparities, primary care, workforce, and other health care issues related to medically underserved populations. The position also includes utilizing, analyzing, and creating tables from our database. The intern will be working directly with NACHC's Department of Research.

Key projects include:

* Writing and updating fact sheets;
* Producing and updating charts and spreadsheets;
* Responding to requests for data and information from outside interested parties;
* Preparing and updating annotated bibliographies relevant to health centers and conducting literature searches;
* Attending briefings on relevant topics; and
* Assisting with the development of NACHC reports, fact sheets, and other products;
* Other projects as necessary.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Position requires excellent writing and analysis skills, and the ability to perform independently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of statistical modeling is not necessary, but this internship will require basic math skills. Previous knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word programs is also essential. Upperclassmen and Master's level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Expectations

Preferably, interns would be available to work 35-40 hours a week. Spring/Summer semester starts May 16th and ends August 19th, start and end dates are negotiable. Stipend available as well as Metro cost assistance. Academic credit may be available.
