Job Description
- Under direct supervision, performs basic to moderate GIS data and geometric network development activities, including developing and updating GIS databases from hard copy maps, site plans, existing electronic data sets, and field survey data.
- Identifies and accounts for differences in map projections and overlay of information from different sources. Supports the development of map layouts, atlas maps, and web maps. May collect field data using laptops or a tablet and/or GPS unit.
- Performs quality control or quality assurance measures to check data, using specific methods prescribed by others.
- Conducts basic GIS analysis to support City initiatives and projects. This may include the generation of geospatial statistics, spatial analysis, and temporal analysis within ESRI ArcGIS Solutions.
- Determines required program parameters and languages, writes programs in ESRI ArcGIS solutions through Python, Arcade, SQL scripts and queries or other appropriate languages for applications
- Tests applications developed by others, usually using a prescribed testing plan. Supports end users for specific applications.
- Develops very simple scripts and/or applications or modify applications developed by others, particularly python scrips or web applications. Develops basic geodatabases designs and makes minor changes to intermediate to complex databases/ geodatabases including changes to database tables, fields, etc., with the design decisions being developed by others.
- Supports the specification, installation, and testing of Geospatial hardware and software. May support installation of hardware and software at client sites.
- Discusses user problems to be solved such as planning, modeling and specific assessment of conditions
- Creates and manages geospatial databases
- Performs data analytics and prepares data that is useful and understandable
- Develops techniques for systems enhancement; performs equipment interfacing and network configurations
- Oversees entry of data into database
- Tests and debugs systems outputs
- Verifies system malfunctions and determines appropriate course of action
- Maintains currency in technical developments by interactions with other professionals and system vendors
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, computer science, or related field
- One (1) year of experience in a GIS role
- Basic knowledge of Esri ArcGIS 10.x, ArcGIS Online, GPS technology, and related geospatial software tools.
- Good communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Model Builder ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS HUB, Utility Network, and Parcel Fabric
- Previous programming experience in Python, Arcade, Html, SQL, XML, JSON, Net, SQL Server, SDE Administration, and SQL.
Salary Range:
- $45,000-$61,819 - dependent upon qualifications
