Lending Specialist (Full-time)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct homeownership education program and implement work plan for homeownership training.
2. Conduct program outreach: develop network of resources to reach community residents and
Organizations; arrange for presentations about program; work with media for coverage of program.
3. Organize homeownership seminars including arranging place, recruiting participants, identify and orient presenters and facilitate seminar to guarantee achievement of goals.
4. Conduct individual counseling with program participants to develop agreement for homeowners’ objectives; provide technical assistance during the property selection process, facilitate loan application, provide credit counseling, and provide support to denied applications.
5. Provide homeownership support, develop homeowner support program, organize and develop a Homeowner’s Association. Follow up with homeowners regularly to assure stability, and provide support and technical assistance to homeowners as necessary.
6. Prepare reports on marketing and education activities and attend monitoring committee meetings to report on marketing and education activities.
7. Help section VIII voucher holders purchase houses using their rental subsidy.
8. Assist Program Director in processing grants for closing cost and down payment assistance.
OTHER: Bilingual (Spanish and English) required. Ability to work with people from different backgrounds. Good written and oral communications skills and excellent organizational skills. Experience in developing and implementing training programs. Credit and financial analysis experience, real estate sales and/ or mortgage lending or underwriting experience desirable. Must attend training and receive certification within six months of hire. Residents of the neighborhood are encouraged to apply. May NOT engage in real estate sales while in the Lending Specialist position.
HOURS: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays and some evenings and weekends.
SALARY: $25,000 TO $30,000 depending on qualifications.

LUCHA is a not-for-profit housing development and technical assistance organization. LUCHA develops decent and affordable housing for Latinos and other residents of Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Hermosa and West Town. The organizational model reflects a community control approach to solving the housing needs and problems of the local residents.
