Do you have a passion for integrated land use and transportation planning? Our Chicago office is seeking a Land Use Planner to assist and support our multi-disciplinary planning team. This position will focus primarily on land use and real estate development economics; however will also work closely with and be a part of our urban public transportation and high speed rail systems planning team.
This position will be responsible for:
Compiling, cataloguing and analyzing data – both tabular and in geographic information systems (GIS)
Collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing land use, community and other information on a range of projects
Preparing creative maps and illustrations using GIS, graphic design, and other software
Incorporating and manipulating data for use in community planning and land use scenarios
Developing reports and presenting findings to multiple audiences
Analyzing potential cash flows to create a financial plan
In order to be successful in this role, the candidate will need to be able to:
Query and analyze geo-spatial and other database information
Interpret and present your results to the general public
Prepare strong presentation materials and written documentation
Be adept in the use of technology, including GIS
The qualified candidate should have:
Experience applying GIS principles, design, and production methods - including, but not limited to - assembling or collecting data, performing spatial analysis, and producing maps and graphics.
Ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment with individual responsibilities for internal and customer deliverables and schedule.
2 or more years working in land use or transportation planning, with project experience in one or more of the following areas:
Comprehensive Regional or Community Plans;
Real Estate Analysis, such as market studies or development pro formas;
Land Use Planning, such as community, neighborhood, or corridor plans, urban design, or development regulations;
Transit Station Area Plans; or
Transportation Planning, including transit supportive land use, transit planning, or transportation systems planning.
The qualified candidate must have:
Degree in Urban Planning and 2 years experience OR a Master’s degree
Ability to complete work within budget and schedule constraints
Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently
Communication, analysis, and documentation skills
Experience with quantitative analysis and cartographic production
