Graduate Hourly Position
Museum Educator, Hull House


Position description:

Museum Educators are to act as the primary liaison between the museum and
the public. Educators give tours and information to the more than 30,000
visitors who come through the museum's doors, with audiences ranging from
Chicago Public School students to professional social workers, public policy
graduate students, rural teachers, and international visitors. Tours will
include diverse material drawn from feminism, queer theory, and social
theory.

A basic understanding of such theories is preferable, though
Educators will be trained on all tour content. Experience with public
speaking is preferable but not required. Applicants should possess strong
communication skills, versatility needed to work with diverse audiences,
administrative skills, and a passion for education, public history, and
social justice. This position begins with paid training during the month of
August. Occasional weekend hours required. The University of Illinois is an
