NEF Credit Analyst

Credit Analyst

The National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), the largest non-profit syndicator of low-income housing tax credits, is seeking a Credit Analyst for multi-family housing. The primary function of this position is to provide in-depth written analysis of sponsor financials and tax credit documentation in a consistent manner that would provide clarity in the determination of approving LIHTC projects, in a collaborative environment. Duties include: under the direction of the Underwriting Manager, responsible for credit analysis of non-profit and for-profit affordable, multifamily developer partners for approximately 50-100 projects per year; analyze guarantor financial statements, trends and capacity; evaluate developer’s organizational structure, capacity and track record; prepare follow-up questions on initial financial analysis and participate with NEF acquisitions team to administer questions; prepare annual financial reviews and updates of risk analyses of NEF’s developer customers; and assist in evaluating and troubleshooting underwriting spreadsheets.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor in accounting, finance, real estate or business. Master’s degree is desirable along with minimum of two years experience in financial analysis or accounting. Must have the ability to produce accurate and timely information by self-reviewing work and meeting defined time deadlines; exercise initiative, mature judgment; establish and maintain effective professional demeanor and work as a strong team player within a collaborative process; ability to work effectively under time-critical conditions. Skill sets must include excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, exemplary oral/written communication and proficient computer skills in MS Excel strongly preferred and significant experience working with spreadsheet database applications. Ability to travel as needed is required.
