Job Description

The Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent nonprofit, is driven by the power of knowledge to solve today’s most challenging problems. Pew applies a rigorous, analytical approach to improve public policy, inform the public and stimulate civic life. The Pew Center on the States (PCS), an internal operating division of The Pew Charitable Trusts, identifies and advances effective policy approaches to critical issues facing states.

Position Overview
The goal of the Cost-Benefit Analysis Initiative is to give state policy makers innovative cost-benefit tools and the ability to use them to inform state policy decisions. The Project Director will lead the process to develop the initiative, including overseeing the research studies, organizing the partnership with the states, completing the fundraising for the initiative and developing a business plan to move the project towards becoming self-sustaining. The expected project team will consist of a director, senior officer/advisor, two project managers, one or two associates and one administrative associate. The final decision on hiring is contingent on raising additional funds. The initiative will be supported by PCS and PCT teams of communication specialists, research staff, journalists, policy analysts and campaign strategists. This position, based in Pew’s Washington, D.C. office, will report to the Deputy Director, Pew Center on the States, and will be hired for an initial period through March 30, 2013, with the possibility of renewal, depending on the initiative’s progress, ability to raise funds, and board deliberations.

Compensation
