Firm Overview | HR&A Advisors, Inc. (HR&A) is an industry-leading real estate, economic development, planning and public policy consulting firm. We provide strategic advisory services for some of the most complex, mixed-use, neighborhood, downtown, campus, city and regional development and infrastructure projects across North America and abroad for clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. HR&A creates value by providing innovative and creative solutions to the complex challenges of economic development and real estate in urban environments. As part of its portfolio, HR&A is supporting public, private, and non-profit clients in advancing resiliency policies and projects in light of enhanced risks due to climate change and other factors. These efforts include supporting implementation of infrastructure and community development strategies in the Sandy-impacted region, and working with cities and states nationally and beyond on resiliency strategies.
Position Description | We are seeking candidates for Senior Analyst or Director in our New York City office to support our resiliency practice. Successful candidates will demonstrate the core skills across HR&A’s consulting practice in real estate, economic development, planning and public policy, and will also demonstrate interest and acumen in this emerging field. Successful candidates will have relevant project management experience, must demonstrate critical analytic thinking skills to serve our clients, possess a passion for intelligent urban development and a deep curiosity about the challenges and opportunities facing cities. Day-to-day tasks will require managing internal and external teams to complete complex economic and planning assignments, public-private partnership strategies, and public policy design. The senior project manager will review and present client deliverables, including memos, reports and PowerPoint presentations; and will support the firm’s business development efforts. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation of real estate/planning expertise and an interest in creative public-private solutions, as well as significant capacity for leadership.
Experience Required | Candidates should have a Master’s Degree, preferably city planning, economic development and/or real estate, and a minimum of 3-5 years’ (for Senior Analyst) or 5+ years’ (for Director) work experience in planning, public policy, real estate development, sustainability or resiliency policy, and/or consulting in a related field. Additional experience in a closely-related field may also be substituted for a graduate degree. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience includes consulting engagements in a relevant field.
In addition to considerable experience in real estate and economic analysis, the candidate must also possess substantial project management experience, excellent writing and presentation skills, and mentorship capabilities. Candidate should be a highly motivated independent thinker with sufficient poise for direct client interaction. The most successful candidates will show potential for rapid professional growth.
Salary | Competitive, based on qualifications and experience.
