RPA seeks a full-time research analyst or associate planner to conduct research and outreach for projects based in New Jersey. The employee will report to RPA’s New Jersey director and will work closely with other RPA staff members. General responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting demographic, economic, land use and transportation-related research as needed on projects
  • Organizing and developing materials for stakeholder meetings and community workshops in partnership with government and civic partners
  • Generating geospatial maps and other explanatory graphics for internal research and publications
  • Developing presentations, documents and publications
  • Managing the RPA NJ Committee and quarterly meetings
  • Staying abreast of and composing briefs on NJ policies and projects
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant and project proposals
Qualifications
A bachelor’s or master’s degree is required. Graduating students or recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have excellent analytic, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency with ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Suite. Candidates must be willing to take on considerable responsibility in a fast-paced office environment. Knowledge of New Jersey issues is preferred. Candidates with additional technical skills, such as AutoCAD, 3D VIS, or similar software will be at an advantage, as will those with prior work experience in planning, public policy or a related field.
Compensation
This is a full-time position. Salary and title are commensurate with education and/or experience. Work may occasionally include evening or weekend meetings. This position is based in RPA’s New York office, with occasional travel to RPA’s Princeton office and other locations throughout New Jersey as required for project work.
