Our St. John’s, NL office has an opportunity for a Planner. As a leader in our multidisciplinary consulting team, you will use your planning and project management expertise to grow opportunities within our expanding team and organization. We operate as a highly collaborative and dynamic team to make thoughtful and creative projects for our clients and our communities. We value energetic, engaged, and solutions-oriented individuals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Effectively managing interdisciplinary project teams and deliver projects through coordination of regional and municipal planning, community consultation and visioning, design, and other efforts as opportunities arise;
- Leading business development efforts and proposals;
- Building key relationships, generating and securing new business in private and public sectors;
- Mentoring the staff members you supervise;
- Successfully liaising and negotiating with authorities at all levels of government.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
- Degree in Urban / Regional Planning or related degree from an accredited University;
- Minimum of 10 years of professional planning experience with a strong emphasis on regional planning;
- CIP Membership is required;
- Experience with all phases of consulting work, from proposal-writing to project completion;
- A diverse portfolio of work and strong writing skills;
- Graphic and visual communication skills considered an asset;
- Proven skills managing projects, clients, and people;
- Business development interest and capability;
- Design experience, such as Urban Design or Landscape Architecture, is a definite asset;
- Specific knowledge of land development processes;
- Public consultation experience and confidence facilitating public meetings;
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills and experience (ranging from informal client meetings to formal stand-up presentations) with various stakeholders;
- An understanding of the NL Urban and Rural Planning Act is considered an asset;
- A driver’s license is required, and some travel will be expected.
