The School of Architecture and Planning in the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries is recognised as New Zealand’s leading educator of urban planners, urban designers and architects. It is highly regarded for its advanced interdisciplinary study and research, innovative design focus and studio based pedagogy. Extensive dedicated design and specialist urban planning studios; well-equipped analogue and digital workshops; IT laboratories; and an outstanding specialist library support teaching and research.
The School offers a Bachelor of Urban Planning (Honours), a Master of Urban Planning, a Master of Planning, a PhD in Planning, and undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in architecture and urban design. A range of innovative Masters degrees variously combining architecture; urban planning; urban design and heritage conservation are in process.

The School is looking for innovative leadership in urban economic land economics research and graduate teaching, including project-based studio teaching and PhD supervision, contributing to the advancement of contemporary urban economic land economics discourse in New Zealand and globally.
You should hold a professionally recognised qualification in urban planning (or planning) and have a PhD (or be close to completion). Relevant practice experience and membership (or eligibility for membership) of a professional organisation is an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants experienced in urban land economics teaching and supervision, with a strong record of publication.
