STARTING SALARY:To $76,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications.
The City of Naperville seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as a Project Manager in the Development Review Team (DRT) of the Transportation, Engineering, and Development Business Group. The Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating land development projects from concept stage to occupancy and serves as the single-point-of-contact for both internal and external customers.   The Project Manager reports directly to the Development Manager.
The DRT Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the plan review and drafting related legal agreements for residential and commercial land development projects.  Knowledge and experience with planning, zoning, site construction, and building codes is essential to the position.  The selected candidate will negotiate with developers and attorneys, deal with complex technical issues and interpret codes and ordinances.  The Project Manager ensures that development reviews are completed in a timely manner and also establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other City departments and outside agencies.
The Project Manager is accountable for working collaboratively, in a matrix environment, with other teams in the Transportation, Engineering, and Development Business Group, as well as other city departments and groups, to achieve common goals and provide excellent customer service.  This position may also be required to attend (and/or present at) Commission meetings such as the Building Review Board.
Requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, construction management, public administration, or a related field.  Three years of experience with land development is also required, with strong client or public interaction experience essential to success. In lieu of a degree, additional years of proven work experience may be considered.  Possession of an AICP, PE, ICC, or related certification is a plus. A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License is required.  The selected candidate will also be an excellent communicator and possess a strong knowledge of project management principles.  Also important to this position are the (proven) abilities to manage multiple priorities, conduct effective research, demonstrate attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
