Assistant Coordinator- Latino Policy Forum (Part-Time)- Chicago, IL

Latino Policy Forum Job Announcement
The mission of the Latino Policy Forum is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society as a whole. The Forum works to improve education outcomes for Latino children, address housing issues, advance an agenda on immigration reform and immigrant integration, and engage in strengthening the capacity of the Latino community.
Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is a training program that works to improve learning outcomes for Latino children by building the capacity of parents to be strong advocates in the lives of their children. The curriculum is composed of ten sessions.
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Hours: 20
25 hours/week
Please note that this is a contract position for one year. Future employment is contingent upon funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
  •   Plan and prepare logistics for training institutes
  •   Co-facilitate AP Facilitator Institutes
  •   Provide technical assistance to AP partners
  •   Conduct 2 site visits per sites implementing AP
  •   Submit observations and write ups of site visits
  •   Maintain contact with AP partners through monthly conference calls, weekly calls and via email
  •   Engage in recruitment efforts
  •   Administer and collect pre- and post- surveys
  •   Maintain database by entering survey data and contact information
    Qualifications:
  •   BA required; advanced degree (or in progress) in social work, public policy, or related field preferred
  •   Experience/knowledge with training, parent involvement, and related issues
  •   Strong, demonstrable research, writing, editing, analytical and oral presentation skills
  •   Experience with public speaking and making presentations to the general public
  •   Well-organized, self-starter, adaptable in challenging situations; able to manage multiple tasks
    and respond to diverse individuals/communities needs
  •   Bilingual Spanish-English required (written and spoken)
    Requirements:
  •   Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of insurance
  •   Must be able to use own vehicle in the course of work
  •   Must be able to travel to outlying areas beyond Metropolitan Chicago and stay overnight on
    occasion
