Title of Position: Director of Career Services (Office of Student Affairs)Primary Function of Position: This position is responsible for providing coordination of career services to medical students in obtaining a residency match. Serve as part of the Office of Student Affairs leadership team. Works in collaboration with Director of Academic Services to ensure quality programming for career and academic related information for medical students. Provide professional development in specialty choice decision making, residency application, and career information (e.g., Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS), Careers in Medicine) for Office of Student Affairs advisors as well as faculty. In collaboration with the faculty physician course director for the Longitudinal Career Development Course for medical students (throughout the four years of the curriculum), provide administrative support for the course. Act as liaison with UIC Career Services and staff at regional campuses of the COM to collaborate to ensure that there are comparable career programs for medical students at all four campuses.Masters degree required. Knowledge of career counseling and student development theory. Experience with professional students preferred. Minimum of five years of relevant experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills, Blackboard.General office environment. Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally around previously scheduled events. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer key boards. Occasional evening and weekend hours. Some travel required. Expected to maintain updated communication.Application deadline: September 8, 2014
