Research Hourly Position - Available Immediately
The Institute for Health Research and Policy is searching for a Research Hourly position to support The Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention (CCYVP) program.  CCYVP is a CDC-funded project that seeks to encourage local residents to look for precursors of youth violence in order to predict where violence prevention resources and interventions should be concentrated.  We are seeking a Community Interviewer (part time at 20 to 30 hours/week) for a community monitoring intervention in Humboldt Park.

The Community Interviewer will help to conduct a community monitoring intervention in Humboldt Park.  The responsibilities include: Recruiting participants for the community monitoring program in the Humboldt Park community by attending community meetings, block clubs, and church events, in order to meet people and introduce them to the community monitoring idea; scheduling and conducting weekly telephone interviews to collect information on precursors of violence; clarifying interviewee's responses to questions, through appropriate follow-up questions; asking a set of IRB-approved interview questions of each participant in the community monitoring program on a quarterly basis; entering data via an online data management system.  The successful candidate will receive two days of training by the Center Evaluation team and Violence Interrupter staff.  Once community monitors are recruited, all interviews will be conducted by phone.  The Community Interviewer will also be involved in carrying out an IRB approved study of neighborhood attitudes by surveying participants in the community monitoring program.  This position offers flexible hours with some evenings and weekends required, especially during the recruitment phase of the project and an hourly rate of $16.30 per hour (no benefits).  Bachelor’s degree required.  Candidates should have their own licensed and insured vehicle or be comfortable using public transportation to attend evening meetings for recruitment purposes.  Bilingual Spanish speakers highly preferred.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to ccyvp@uic.edu by September 5, 2014.  No phone calls or walk-ins please.
