*POSITION TITLE: *Transportation Engineer
*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*
• Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Transportation
Engineering, Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Urban Engineering,
Highway Operations, Transportation Demand Analysis, or Transportation
Planning. Work experience is strongly desirable
• Practical knowledge, proficiency, and experience in travel
demand forecast modeling software
• Practical knowledge and proficiency in Geographic
Information Systems
• Experience with web-based GIS applications and database design
• Ability to apply math skills and manipulate data
• Effective written, verbal and presentation communications
skills
• Problem-solving and time management skills
• Ability to work well as a team member
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
*GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ANTICIPATED DUTIES*
• Maintain NIRPC’s transportation network model
• Perform air quality conformity analysis, coordination and
documentation
• Perform the congestion management process of the
long-range transportation plan
• Perform the intelligent transportation system process of
the long-range transportation plan
• Support the development and update of a long-range
transportation plan portion of the Comprehensive Regional Plan
• Perform other duties as required
*ANTICIPATED POSITION CLASSIFICATION: * Professional A,
Fair Labor Standards Act Exempt, Full Time
*SALARY / WAGE PARAMETERS:* $51,710 - $55,847
