Position Title:  Policy Associate (CDBG/Fair Housing/CRLTO) - Housing program area
Reports to:  Policy Analyst/Housing Outreach Coordinator
Status:  Part-time, 20 hours week (salary range $13 - $16 per hour)
The Latino Policy Forum is a policy and advocacy nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the power, influence and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies and ensure the well-being of Latinos and society as a whole throughout the Chicago metropolitan region. In the area of housing, the goals of the Forum are for all Latinos, including low- and mid-income families, to have access to safe, quality, affordable housing.
Basic Function: Under the direction of the Policy Analyst/Housing Outreach Coordinator, the Policy Associate conducts housing education trainings. This position is responsible for implementing trainings, informational sessions and referrals on fair housing and the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance.
This position is ideal for someone who has experience in housing counseling and is talented at facilitating educational lessons and curriculum or for people that have an aptitude toward teaching. This role will provide a good opportunity for a person who is interested in a career in the application of housing education, wants exposure to research and analysis while being an integral team member in the Forum’s housing education strategies. Some travel within the city of Chicago is required.
Major Responsibilities:
• Coordinate community workshops and conduct trainings on the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance  and fair housing independently as well as collaboratively with other agencies in the Chicago Region;
• Provide informational sessions on fair housing and the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance in English and Spanish;
• Maintains relationship with volunteer programs from universities, clubs, civic groups, etc.
• Assist in the recruitment of the Forum’s Fair Housing Education Promoters;
• Manages the scheduling of Fair Housing Education Promoters fair housing education sessions;
• Attend and/or present at relevant housing expo, community events, fairs and  other organizations;
• Retains detailed documentation housing education sessions  and workshops including collecting, organizing and data entry of attendance sheets;
• Provides referrals to individuals or households that seek additional housing consultation;
• Maintains accurate records of outreach efforts and trainings;
• Collects client data, maintains database, and provides monthly and quarterly reports;
• Assists in preparing grant reports and program evaluation;
• Analyzes data and collaborates with various members of the housing team to conduct draft analysis and reports;
• Other duties, as assigned.

Mandatory Job Qualifications

Qualifications:
• BA required; advanced degree preferred;
• Fluent in Spanish;
• Strong interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills;
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and marketing skills;
• Demonstrated computer skills, including PowerPoint and excel;
• Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills;
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, target-driven;
