This position is located in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP), in the Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of Consumer Protection. The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed 2 years, which may be extended to a maximum of four years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.

-Acts as analyst assisting the Section Chief and Senior Policy Analysts in supporting the Corporation's consumer protection supervisory activities. Such efforts include supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of policy for the FDIC's consumer protection related regulatory responsibilities.
-Supports the active monitoring and analysis of emerging consumer protection risks and consumer financial products, services, and practices, identifying potential issues and impacts, and assisting in developing recommendations for potential options for appropriate policy actions.
-Assists in analyzing and evaluating existing and proposed consumer protection laws, regulations, and guidance and supporting the development of consumer protection policy relating to FDIC examination and enforcement activities involving consumer protection.

For grade 12, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the grade 11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes analyzing policy issues related to financial services or products for banking or financial institutions; analyzing and evaluating existing or proposed consumer protection laws, regulations or requirements; drafting policy, summaries, position papers, and memoranda on complex matters and using an examination tracking system.
For Grade 11, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the grade 9 in the Federal service or a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or three years of progressively higher level graduate education or an LL.M in a major field of study related to the line of work, such as public administration, business administration, commercial or banking law, economics, public policy or statistical analysis or a combination of education and experience. Specialized experience is assisting in analyzing policy issues related to financial services or products for banking or financial institutions; assisting in analyzing and evaluating existing or proposed consumer protection regulations or requirements; drafting policy summaries and memoranda and using an examination tracking system.
