The Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington, Seattle invites applications for one full time position as a visiting assistant professor (100% FTE, 9-month appointment without tenure) or lecturer (100% FTE, 9-month appointment without tenure) with a focus in public finance, budgeting, or financial management. The appointment will begin September 16, 2013.

Candidates with interests in tax policy, school finance, federal budgeting, and related areas are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute to teaching in one or more areas of core instruction including public and nonprofit management, financial management and budgeting, applied microeconomics, policy analysis, program evaluation, and/or quantitative methods. Candidates that would like to be considered for the visiting assistant professor title should have a Ph.D. and an appointment at another university. Candidates that would like to be considered for the lecturer position must hold a Ph.D.

The Evans School of Public Affairs is a NASPAA-accredited, nationally-ranked, internationally-competitive program, offering a professional Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management and an Executive MPA degree. Faculty scholarship is vigorously encouraged with the help of strong professional development activities and opportunities to participate in research through our own and affiliated research centers.

The successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for working in a multi-and interdisciplinary environment that demands excellence in scholarship and teaching and encourages engagement in important problems. Applicants should hold the Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, political science, public policy or administration, international affairs, sociology, demography, or other relevant field. Applicants should provide a formal letter of interest indicating teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, at least three letters of recommendation and samples of research work and teaching experience via e-mail to:
