| Academic Professional Title : Project Manager - Capital Programs Close Date: 08/17/2012 INTERNAL SEARCH The Office for Capital Programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago has an opening for a Project Manager. Responsibilities for this position include project management and contract administration services related to capital projects, which can include both new construction and renovation projects. Duties: The chosen candidate will interact with a diverse population of end users, design teams, and contractors to assist in the evaluation of requirements for new space and for reconfiguration of existing facilities. The candidate will develop and prepare programs, project budgets, estimates of project costs, and definition of project work scope. The chosen candidate will also establish and administer contracts with outside architect/engineer (A/E) consultants; oversee their work; ensure compliance with state codes and standards; and ensure that projects meet program requirements and are constructed within schedule and budget parameters. Qualifications: Minimum requirements are a B.A. or B.S. degree in architecture, related engineering field or construction. A minimum of 5 years experience in management of design, cost estimating, and construction principles. Familiarity with building mechanical, fire alarm/protection systems and campus utility systems; a solid knowledge of applicable codes, buildings standards, legal and safety issues; and the ability to manage multiple projects is preferred. Ideal candidates will be able to communicate effectively with persons at all levels; exercise proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling software; and will also exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. State of Illinois licensure to practice architecture or related engineering professions are strongly preferred.
