Faculty Position Announcements
Public Leadership and Management
The School of Government seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member in public
administration for appointment at the assistant or associate professor level. This position
will specialize in public management, organizational theory/behavior, or governance.
Interest in the topics of public leadership and city/county management is essential.
This position will teach in the School’s highly ranked MPA program, including the
recently launched online format, MPA@UNC. The School seeks a person with a strong
public administration background who will teach two MPA courses annually (on campus
and/or online), conduct research, and publish in his or her area of specialization. Faculty
members are also expected to serve on portfolio committees, participate in conducting
comprehensive oral exams, advise students, and provide general support to the MPA
program.
This position also will contribute to the School’s core mission by advancing the study and
practice of public administration within the faculty member’s fields of specialization. A
major part of this effort will be to teach, advise, research, and prepare publications for
public officials who work in North Carolina local and state government. Responsibilities
will include training and consultation with local government elected officials, city and
county managers, and emerging leaders in North Carolina local and state government.

Public Administration (General)
The School of Government seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member in public
administration for appointment at the assistant or associate professor level. Specialties of
particular interest include state and local government, research methods, and human
resource management. The School also encourages applications from candidates with
particularly strong credentials in other specialties relevant to Master of Public
Administration (MPA) students and local and state government practitioners.
This position will teach in the School’s highly ranked MPA program, including the
