John Lawson for State Representative 2012 Internship Program

About the Program

The John Lawson for State Representative 2012 Internship Program will provide a hands-on learning experience for college and high school students. Interns will receive substantial practical exposure to the day-to-day operations of a state political campaign, including telephoning, strategizing, fundraising, and canvassing.

In addition, the Program will include frequent discussions of policy issues such as job creation and economic growth, the state budget, health care, education, gun control, and others. The internship program will begin as soon as interns are available and will go until the November 6 election day.

Interns will get the opportunity to develop their communication skills and gain valuable work experience by partaking in supporter phone calls and canvassing efforts. Participants will receive an hourly rate of $10 per hour.

This is a great opportunity not only to earn extra money, but also a great way to build a résumé. Students pursuing a career in social sciences are highly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:
• At least 18 years of age and HIGHLY MOTIVATED
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Available to work at least 10 hours weekly until the November 6th election *(most work is completed during after school hours and weekends)
