Old Town Dir. of Institutional Advancement


The Old Town School of Folk Music teaches and celebrates music and cultural expressions rooted in the traditions of diverse American and global communities. Founded in 1957, the Old Town School of Folk Music provides a wide range of music, dance, theater, and visual arts courses to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Whatever one's interest, the Old Town School provides broad access to more than 800 accredited class offerings, private lessons, and workshops that span an array of artistic genres. In January of 2012, the School opened a new facility, designed to accommodate a range of dance and music classes and performances. The new building adds 27,120 square feet of acoustically-engineered, LEED-gold certified, state-of-the art classroom and concert space. This new addition added 60% to the overall student capacity, and provides the School with a host of new opportunities to interact with the public. Please take a moment to learn more about the Old Town School of Folk Music at www.oldtownschool.org
 
The Director of Institutional Advancement is a senior-level position responsible for securing funds from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. S/he reports to the Executive Director, supervises Development Department staff (3 FTE), coordinates efforts with other internal stakeholders, and participates in essential institutional planning and strategic direction. During this pivotal time of institutional growth, the Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking a Director of Institutional Advancement to garner resources to raise philanthropic dollars to support its capital needs as well as annual programs. In addition, the School is looking for the new Director to help expand and raise the profile of the School in local and regional philanthropic arenas. The selection process will focus on past success in complex organizations, a solid and progressive fundraising history, including proven success in building or significantly expanding development initiatives and experience managing a successful capital campaign, and a demonstrated passion for the mission of the Old Town School of Folk Music.
