Ventura County Transportation Commission seeks a Transit Specialist to assist in the planning and organizing of bus transit programs; coordinate program services; monitor service quality; survey patrons; and do related work as required.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

• Transportation needs of the community.
• Principles, techniques, and methods of creating bus schedules.
• Transit planning and demand analysis.
• Survey development, methodology, and analysis.
• Report preparation and recordkeeping techniques.
• State and Federal Transit funding programs and sources.
• Applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including ADA, public contract code and application of California Public Utilities Commission regulations.
• Governmental procurement and contracts management requirements.
• Standard administrative practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment.
• Business letter writing and the standard format for reports and correspondence.

SALARY TARGET: $60,000 - $65,000. Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target. Analyzes data needed to develop, implement, and evaluate bus/rail service, and makes appropriate recommendations and plans. Conducts research to ascertain where the operating efficiency and service improvement can be attained. Evaluates major route(s) changes for Title VI and Environmental Justice implications. Administers contracted services, proposals, contract administration, and reports. Primary duties and Responsibilities Completes running time analysis for rail lines to determine potential frequency changes. Develops specification to submit to schedules. Develops cost estimates for operational changes to rail. Provides specific direction on train consist through peak and off-peak periods. Reviews consultant studies as appropriate. Coordinates short-term rail changes with longer-term construction and extension projects. Meets monthly with Schedules and Operation staff to determine future needs on rail system. Evaluates recent changes and construction project timeline to determine appropriate service levels. Attends meetings and provides communication and information regarding projects, problems, or issues both internally and externally. Conducts fieldwork and research to gather information on various CTA facilities, operations, and service. Determines need to re-assign rail cars based on data. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Urban Design, Industrial Design, Transportation Planning, or a closely related discipline with academic instruction in transportation planning, operations, and/or policy analysis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  Normal standing, sitting, walking, associated with office environment and occasional fieldwork. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  Working knowledge of CTA rail and bus operations and service area. Conceptual understanding of transit planning fundamentals, both economic and schedule-related. Able to demonstrate research, analytic, quantitative, and evaluation skills. Understanding of community and economic development, as well as demographic changes. Transportation Planners, MTA New York City Transit - New York City, NY

The MTA New York City Transit Division of Operations Planning is seeking
transportation planners. The position will be responsible for helping to
plan short and long-term changes to the NYC bus route network including
Local, Limited, Express, and/or Selected Bus Service.  The incumbent will
develop and maintain a database of service and ridership information for
planning purposes, prepare reports recommending new or restructured bus
routes and services, including ridership projections, customer and
operations impacts, and operating costs.  The position may also assist in
the analysis and management of various long-range planning studies, such as
Alternatives Analyses and Environmental Impact Statements and coordination
with other NYCT departments, other MTA agencies, and external contacts.
The successful candidate is expected to do field work throughout New York
City and to represent NYC Transit at public meetings.
