Description

Program(s): R CITY Dreambuilders / Peacebuilders After School/Summer Program (Grades K-8)

Pay Rate: $17.00, 30 hours/week

Requirements: Ability to pass Chicago Public Schools background check. Complete required online training (5 hours) within 2 weeks of hiring 

Employment type: 2024-25 School year, Extension possible by mutual agreement.

 

Schedule

  • 30 hours weekly
  • After School Program Hours: Monday-Friday 2 PM - 6:30 PM
  • Summer Program Hours: Monday-Friday 9 AM- 3 PM
  • Additional hours for evening or weekend field trips, family communication, staff meetings, team co-working time, trainings, etc.
    • Evening and weekend activities and family communication hours are flexible.
    • If more hours become available, more hours may be added by mutual agreement of both parties

 

Position Description: After School Mentor

  • Mentor a small group of youth (8-10 students) to promote their social and academic growth which includes participation in after school programming and activities that support that goal.
  • Lead one Mentor Outing each month, taking 2-3 children on an extracurricular activity
  • Cooperate with R CITY team to plan and produce excellent, safe, and reliable programming for after school and summer programs for students grades K-8.
  • Plan and teach goal-based activities or lessons for a small group of students grades K-8 within after-school and summer programs.
  • Develop relationships with parents/guardians, teachers and school personnel for R CITY students in grades K-8, utilizing those relationships to promote their social and academic growth.
  • Cooperate with R CITY team on whole-group aspects of after school programming, including but not limited to space preparation and cleanup, small group teaching, and enrichment time.
  • Attend staff and organizational meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Adhere to all R CITY, Chicago Public Schools, and Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority policies and procedures, as well as written and spoken guidelines and expectations.
