Service Analyst
Summary of Duties
Reporting directly to the Department Head, Systems Performance and Data, the Service Analyst, will collect and analyze ridership, and financial operating data. Provide support for commuter rail planning activities using a broad range of planning techniques from quantitative analyses. Review and validate the accuracy of several projects in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), conduct research and update databases and graphs. Prepare and provide comprehensive operating reporting statistics to the National Transit Database (NTD) and other agencies and organizations. Work with teams to identify and reconcile any reporting discrepancies related to ticket sales and ridership reporting. Audit key operating statistics for reporting to ensure consistency. Provide statistical and data analysis as needed. Represents Metra at regional committees and task forces. Fulfill requests for data from other Metra departments and outside requestors. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Must have Bachelor's degree in Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Market Research, Urban Planning or a related field. Master’s degree with an emphasis on quantitative methods preferred.
- Must have two (2) years applied experience with statistical and other quantitative analyses. Applied data management and survey research experience is preferred.
- Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Ability to comprehend technical material.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Knowledge of database management, statistical software, SQL, programming/script/macro languages, transportation planning software, OBIEE, and geographic information systems preferred.
