MTA New York City Transit is the largest public transportation agency in North America and one of the largest in the world, with 24/7 bus and subway service and an average daily ridership of more than 7 million customers.   The transit system is comprised of 468 subway stations, including 103 made accessible to customers with disabilities, via elevators and ramps.  The bus fleet, which consists of New York City Transit and MTA Bus, is the largest in North America and 100 percent accessible to people with mobility challenges via lifts and ramps.   New York City Transit employs more than 45,000 people in a variety of fields.  
The agency is creating a small team which will be accountable to the President and responsible for developing strategies for improved transit service through the adaptive use of operating procedural changes supported by targeted investment and new technologies.
Responsibilities:  
The selected candidate will provide analytical and administrative support, including the preparation of reports and presentations.  Duties additionally may include: industry best practices research; developing innovative strategies to improve operations and service quality; and providing analytical support to the development of detailed implementation plans and schedules in close collaboration with various stakeholders.
Education & Experience:
1.     Assistant Transit Management Analyst I – II:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operation research, security management or in a related field.  In addition, two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, drawings and technical reports. 
2.     Associate Transit Management Analyst:
Education and experience in any field as stated above. In addition, three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in "1" above. One (1) year of experience must have been in the transportation industry.
Desired Skills:
  • Master’s Degree is preferred
  • Knowledge of building analytical model
  • Experience with organizational change management a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills
  • Robust attention to detail
  • Skilled with note/minute-taking
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
