Cardno, a multi-disciplinary firm with a northwest regional presence in the land use planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering and environmental services practice areas, is seeking a Senior planner in our Portland, OR.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

> Preliminary due diligence studies for prospective development sites
> Preparing for and facilitating meetings with local agency planning staff
> Preparation of land use narratives with findings of compliance with approval criteria
> Leading presentations at neighborhood meetings and public hearings
> Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams on land use permit submittal efforts
> Consultation to public agencies regarding development code, plan and policy updates
> Preliminary concept planning for development sites

Basic Qualifications:

> 5 to 10 years of experience
> The ideal candidate would preferably have a background that includes land development and physical planning experience including single family residential design, urban design, and master planning and permit entitlement facilitation
> Strong writing skills are necessary and candidates will be asked to provide writing samples that demonstrate the ability to write in a simple, clear and compelling manner
> Organizational skills and the ability to balance and juggle multiple project demands are necessary.
> Applicants must be able to demonstrate competency in the regulatory framework that governs land development, with particular knowledge and competency in the determination of residential densities, allowable lot sizes, system development charge methodology, master plan and planned development ordinances, and general code interpretation
> Competency and fluency in land development code is necessary, and the preferred candidate will be able to understand and articulate the differences between community planning policy, implementing code and how local policy and code fit within the context of broader regional, state and federal land use and environmental planning/permitting requirements
> Strong verbal communication skills are critical
> The preferred candidate needs to be a pro-active team player who is eager to ask questions, bring ideas to the table and willing to lead the coordination of land use development teams with land use permit submittals. These development teams could include outside design professionals, environmental consultants, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers or other team partners
> Competency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) is required

Desired Qualifications:

> Experience with design programs (Adobe Illustrator, GIS, AutoCAD) and with MS Project is desired
