Senior Transportation Planner
The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) is seeking a full-time, team-oriented Senior Transportation Planner to fill a recently vacated position. The ideal candidate will have a mix of knowledge, skills, and abilities including project management and strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Experience with developing or managing transportation and traffic data systems will be given preference. In addition, spatial and tabular data compilation, storage, and analysis skills are desired, including Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and ESRI GIS suite software knowledge and skills.
The position will be initially tasked primarily with designing and implementing WAMPO’s traffic and transportation data framework and providing data support for WAMPO’s current long range planning initiative. This position will likely become the program manager for WAMPO’s traffic/transportation data program, including managing WAMPO’s travel demand model contracts and all of its traffic and transportation system data projects. In addition, the position will be expected to contribute in small ways to other projects. WAMPO is a small organization, and we all wear many hats.

This position is an exempt position, and work in excess of 40 hours per week, as well as travel, may occasionally be required. WAMPO supports on-going professional development for its employees. The position reports to the WAMPO Planning Manager.
