Job Summary:
The University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Dentistry is seeking a Database Software Specialist (IT Technical Associate).
This position configures and manages the College of Dentistry’s health record and billing system (axiUm) and integrates it with other system components to develop and maintain a comprehensive database that provides real-time information and reporting for data analysis for health care, financial, billing and collections, insurance, scheduling and educational related information. The analyst trains and assists faculty, staff and students with all axiUM and integrated system application modules and works with other information technology staff and vendors to create an optimal technological environment for the deployment of axiUm.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Configure axiUm to create an optimal application configuration that provides user-friendly front-end access to real-time health care, financial, billing and collections, insurance, scheduling and educational related information via standard reports and queries for data analysis and strategic planning.
- Integrate axiUm with the College’s educational and other components to creat a complete historical database; past and current states.
- Solve problems regarding database access, database performance, patient records, electronic health records, billing, accounts receivable, insurance, and scheduling.
- Create reports and data files, in various formats, such as Crystal Reports and MS SQL Server Reports which supplies information regarding health care quality, educational status, financial status, and scheduling to maximize revenue.
- Control access to the various confidential electronic health record, patient record, scheduling, and financial components of the College’s patient & billing database.
- Develop and conduct training seminars for faculty, staff, and students on the system’s modules, related applications and reporting capabilities to ensure system is optimally utilized.
- Conduct one-on-one training sessions with faculty, staff, and students on the use and purpose of the software’s various applications and assist faculty in using software to teach students on system functionality.
- Work with software vendors regarding complex operational and installation problem resolutions, special requests, and system upgrades.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Credentials to be Verified:
1. Any combination totaling two years from the following categories:
a) progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession
b) college course work in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year
- 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor’s Degree equals two years
- Demonstrated experience required in developing relational databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of axiUm (software) specifically; SQL and database management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Crystal Reports, Microsoft applications, Visual Basic, and SPSS, data transformation and restructuring.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - SQL Server Certification highly preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical billing, insurance reimbursement, accounting, and dental terminology.
- Collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
- Demonstrated customer focus and evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer and builds strong customer relationships and creates processes to improve customer service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Ability to design and conduct effective formal and informal training.
