Disaster Services Planner
State of Illinois - Sangamon County, IL
Under general direction of the All-Hazards Planning Section Chief, functions as a public health component of the Strategic Planning Cell, providing input and impact information on emergency planning projects and development of response plans for all hazards. Participates in the organization, interpretation and development of information related to disaster planning projects from the public health perspective. Serves as liaison with local government agencies and health care providers, state and federal agencies, utility services and others in conjunction with planning development, inter-coordination of training, and disaster plan exercises, testing and evaluation. Develops graphics for plan reports, informational brochures and training aids, conducts contingency studies leading to the development of comprehensive sate disaster plans and detailed site plans.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires knowledge, skill and mental developments equivalent to completion of four years of college preferably with course work in planning, business or public administration. Requires two years of professional experience in various planning areas, such as regional, urban or management planning. Requires working knowledge of the manner in which State and local governments function. Requires working knowledge of basic statistical methods, graphics and report preparation. Requires ability to review, analyze and relate complex and abstract information and prepare comprehensive, clearly and concisely written planning reports. Requires ability to make effective oral presentations, and foster cooperative working relationships among diverse interests and agencies
