The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC)
(www.crec.net<http://www.crec.net>) is seeking a program assistant to
support the organization's networking, technical assistance, and research
activities.  CREC is a nonprofit organization based in Arlington, VA that
helps federal, state, and local leaders make economic and workforce
development policy through data-driven initiatives.  CREC does this
through networking, technical assistance, facilitated planning, research,
and training.

Position Details

The program assistant will help CREC in managing affiliate network
organizations to facilitate ongoing dialogue with its members, clients,
and potential clients.  This effort will include:


*                   Contributing to weekly updates, websites, blogs,
social media, and proposals

*                   Facilitating volunteers in support of conference
planning and developing sessions

*                   Assisting with association membership services and
administration, especially the Association of Public Data Users
(www.apdu.org)

*                   Providing administrative support to appropriate
volunteer boards/committees

*                   Providing logistical assistance for training sessions
(in-person and online)

*                   Coordinating advocacy efforts related to Federal
socioeconomic statistics

*                   Other duties as assigned

CREC is seeking a motivated individual with energy and intellectual
curiosity, an interest in revitalizing American communities, and a
commitment to using evidence (from a wide variety of data sources) to
drive these policies.  The Program Assistant will have familiarity with
community/economic/workforce development concepts and practices and can
document a strong oral and written communication capability. The
successful person can also demonstrate a keen ability to interpret,
analyze, and present complex data, including creating charts, graphs, and
maps.  A master's degree in a field related to public policy, planning,
public administration, or business is strongly preferred.  The most
competitive candidates will demonstrate some experience and/or interest in
issues tied to U.S. state or local economic development, workforce
development, education, or a related field.
