Assistant Project Manager, Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness- Arlington, VA

The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC)
(www.crec.net<http://www.crec.net>) is seeking an assistant project
manager to take over the daily management of the Cost of Living Index
project, a quarterly publication to provide a useful and reasonably
accurate measure to compare cost of living differences among urban areas
in the Unites States. CREC is a nonprofit organization based in Arlington,
VA that helps federal, state, and local leaders make economic and
workforce development policy through data-driven initiatives.  CREC does
this through networking, technical assistance, facilitated planning,
research, and training.

Position Details

The assistant project manager will help CREC in organizing the Cost of
Living Index price data collection, reviewing and publishing activities.
This effort will include:


*                   Coordinating and training both paid and volunteer data
collectors

*                   Increasing and retaining metropolitan area coverage

*                   Analyzing and publishing data in a timely manner

*                   Managing the distribution of data and providing
customer service/public relations

*                   Assisting in product development and marketing activities

*                   Helping with other duties as assigned

The Assistant Project Manager will have the ability to understand key
community and economic concepts related to the costs of consumer goods and
the relevance to community and economic development while also
demonstrating the drive and personality to engage and motivate a network
of 400 volunteers to contribute pricing information to this national
dataset.   The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong
oral and written communication skills as well as a keen ability to
interpret, analyze, and present complex pricing and economic data.  A
master's degree in a field related to economics, public policy, planning,
or business is strongly preferred.
