FINANCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR
The Village of Winnetka is seeking a Financial Services Coordinator, a
new position in the Finance Department. This position will oversee the
procurement of goods and services Village-wide and supports Finance
Department operations including budget preparation, expenditure
analysis, and cost allocations; creating, monitoring, and evaluating
performance indicators and service delivery; and developing management
reports. The Financial Services Coordinator works under the immediate
supervision of the Finance Director and also takes direction from the
Assistant Finance Director. The Coordinator will supervise the
Department’s accounts-payable and cashier staff. This position requires
the establishment of priorities, as well as the ability to regularly
exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in
business, finance, accounting, or a closely related field.
• 3 to 4 years progressively responsible work experience in finance
and/or purchasing. Municipal experience is preferred.
• Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) or Certified Professional
Public Buyer (CPPB) is a plus.
Other Requirements:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively
with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of governmental purchasing procedures and pertinent laws.
• Possess intermediate and advanced math skills; understand
relationships in data sets.
• Good organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to formulate policies and procedures.
• Possess high level of personal and professional ethics to maintain
integrity in Village business.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving skills.
The weekly work schedule is normally 37.5 hours in duration, Monday
through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may be extended in the event
of emergency, disaster, workload, administrative obligations, or work
in progress. Work activities are typically conducted in a
climate-controlled open office environment and noise levels are usually
quiet.
This is an exempt position. Salary range: $64,981 to $89,970 (DOQ) plus
excellent benefits.
The Village of Winnetka (population 12,200) is an established North
Shore suburban community, located approximately 20 miles north of
Chicago. Winnetka’s six operational departments provide the following
primary services to the community: police, fire, and emergency medical
services; highway and street maintenance and reconstruction; forestry;
building and code enforcement; public improvements; economic
development; planning and zoning; waterworks and sewerage; refuse
collection; electric; parking system; and general administration.
Winnetka’s Finance Department provides accounting, accounts payable,
cashier, information technology, utility billing & metering,
payroll, and benefits services for the Village. The fiscal year 2014
budget is $70.4 million and there are approximately 151 full-time
