The University of Chicago Crime Lab and Urban Education Lab (UEL) seek a motivated professional with outstanding analytical, project management, and communications skills to support research projects as a Research Associate/Program Manager. The Research Associate/Program Manager will be responsible for managing a large-scale, multi-year randomized control trial of a structured mentoring program in the Chicago Public Schools, including administrative oversight of program operations, relationship management with school and nonprofit partners, compliance with contract and grant requirements, and monitoring of program fidelity. The Research Associate/Program Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of this research project and will work closely with the research team in the dissemination of findings. In addition, the Research Associate/Program Manager will support the overall operations of the Crime Lab and UEL by assisting with staff supervision, fundraising, event planning, communications, data analysis, and development of new projects as needed.
The ideal candidate for the Research Associate/Program Manager position will have a graduate degree (master’s or Ph.D.) in the social sciences, statistics, public policy or a related field, with a minimum of four years of relevant work experience. Experience with social science research and/or project management is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding analytical ability, with advanced statistical knowledge and experience with statistical software such as STATA and SAS; exceptional project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget; and excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present data in a simple and straightforward way for non-technical audiences.
