DYNAMIC NONPROFIT SEEKS FOUNDATION RELATIONS MANAGER

Summary of Organization
Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) seeks to make interfaith cooperation a social norm. Too often, religion is seen as a barrier of division. IFYC believes faith can be a bridge of cooperation, strengthening our civil society, and promoting the common good. Just as civil rights leaders and environmentalists built transformative movements in the 20th century, IFYC believes that interfaith leaders will build the movement for interfaith cooperation in the 21st century.
IFYC launched a new strategic plan in 2010, focusing its efforts on advancing interfaith cooperation in higher education. Since that time, IFYC worked with over 400 institutions of higher education and trained several hundred college students in the principles of interfaith leadership. We have worked with partners including the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, the White House, and the Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan.
Summary of Program
To support the ambitious programmatic objectives of IFYCs strategic plan, the Development Department drives and stewards the organizations relationships with its diverse funders and Board of Directors. The five-person team works to secure foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual giving to support IFYCs current $4.6M budget and robust growth strategy.
Responsibilities
IFYC is seeking a foundations relations manager to further develop and execute on organizational strategy to grow year-over-year funding relationships with corporate and private foundations.
The successful candidate will be a social entrepreneur, adept at building and maintaining relationships with key foundation personnel, writing high quality grant proposals and reports for both general operating and programmatic grants, and developing grant budgets.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Write, review, and revise high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents in consultation with finance, program, and executive staff
  • Adapt writing style, content, and tone with regard to donor interests, values and relationships
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials
  • Oversee grant proposal calendar/tracking
  • Prepare and manage grant budgets in collaboration with Accounting Manager
  • Research prospective foundation and corporate donors, work within the team context to recommend individual and public sector funders, explore corporate sponsorship opportunities
  • Cultivate strong relationships with grant administrators, particularly foundation/corporate prospects/donors; coordinate site visits and one-on-one communications with donors
  • Track solicitation and giving actions in the donor database and through other tracking processes
  • Coordinate with development associate to organize and gather appropriate program and outcomes information, facts, stories, and photos to write and develop grant proposals, communication and collateral materials
  • Coordinate with development associate and program staff to manage grant award requirements, such as progress reports
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Occasional travel will be expected

Supervision: Reports to the vice president of development; supervises a development associate

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelors degree in related field
  • 5+ years experience and demonstrated success in foundation relations, especially with grant proposal writing and personalized donor cultivation
  • Strong commitment to IFYCs mission of making interfaith cooperation a social norm
  • Experience with interfaith or religious foundations or programs preferred
  • Ability to communicate convincingly through the written word
  • Proven ability to translate highly technical information and concepts into easily readable language
  • Knowledge of local and national foundation networks
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills, with strong competence in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to gain confidence of high-level foundation prospects
  • Experience with donor databases, knowledge and experience with eTapestry is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, with appropriate use of business vocabulary, tact, discretion and judgment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, creativity, self-motivation, and attention to detail
  • Research, data-collection prioritization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with a collaborative team and individually on a projects that require relative autonomy
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a deadline-driven environment, balancing various short-term and ongoing projects
