Planning Specialist – Comprehensive Planning

St. Louis County, Missouri



The St. Louis County Department of Planning is seeking a qualified individual to fill a senior level professional urban planning position in the Comprehensive Planning Division.  Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing complex planning and public policy projects;
  • Researching, interpreting, and preparing advanced studies of geographic, demographic, economic, housing, and other urban related data; 
  • Using geographic information systems (GIS) to create maps and displays, validate and edit geographic and tabular data, and perform spatial data analysis;
  • Preparing county and community plans, planning reports, and special studies;
  • Developing materials for publications and presentations and making presentations;
  • Working closely with other agencies, community groups, and the public



 This position requires strong project management, research, and analytical skills.  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field and three-years planning experience or a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or closely related field with minimum one-year experience.  Master’s Degree preferred.  Experience with ArcGIS and Adobe software preferred.
