Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and monitor alumni engagement strategies related to existing and future affinity alumni networks, including volunteer management, event and program planning and development, marketing, and collaboration with appropriate deans, department chairs, faculty, advancement staff, and other internal/external partners. - Manage Signature Programs for the Department of Alumni Relations. Specifically, co-chair the University Homecoming Committee and serve as main liaison to numerous campus departments and alumni audiences for the weekend. Homecoming is a three-day campus-wide event involving more than 2,000 attendees and nearly 40 events. Alumni Relations and the Division of Student Development spearhead the weekend. - Manage two full-time professional staff who work with affinity and regional based programs, including budget oversight and forecasting; performance evaluations; strategic event/program review and assessment. - Attend and speak at events as a representative of the alumni office as requested. Additional duties as required and needed by the Director of Alumni Relations, Senior Vice President for Advancement or the overall department. - Perform related duties as required. Minimum Education or Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in alumni relations, public relations, communications or related field required. Computer Skills: Computer proficiency with MS Office products, email, Internet and competency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) required. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Masters desirable as is some prior managerial experience. Candidate should have demonstrated success with event planning and/or volunteer management, particularly volunteer boards. Must have a strong ability to initiate projects and activities, effectively communicate these programs to stakeholders, and be effective in recruiting and stewarding volunteers. The successful candidate must be resourceful, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work as part of a team in a service-oriented environment. Should exhibit strong organization, written and oral communication skills. Public speaking competency is important. Should be able to determine goals, set priorities, and execute within the context of departmental and division goals and strategic plans. Must possess initiative; be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to manage an array of projects simultaneously. Must have or develop a strong working knowledge of Loyola University Chicago and its culture, people, programs, and opportunities for alumni engagement. Frequent evening and weekend work required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
