Outreach Coordinator Position for CHA Program

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
DEPARTMENT: Adult Programs
POSITION: Outreach Coordinator for CHA Program, Full Time 40 hours/per week
REPORTS TO: Adult Education Assistant Director
OPEN DATE: October 1, 2011

Erie Neighborhood House, a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society, is seeking an Outreach Coordinator to oversee the Chicago Housing Authority’s (CHA) outreach and publicity campaign targeting the Latino community in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Adult Programs the Outreach Coordinator’s basic job functions are to oversee the day-today activities of the CHA grant and ensure contract goals are met as well as conduct community outreach and education in the Latino community regarding the CHA’s public housing programs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee housing outreach planning and coordination and ensure CHA goals are being met.
  • Monitor progress and assess outcomes in consultation with the Assistant Director/program staff.
  • Work with partner/consultant to ensure consistency on messaging and communications strategyAdminister flyers, posters, brochures, etc. at outreach events to promote awareness about CHA programs
  • Promote HCVP, senior housing, the Improving Properties Initiative, and the Owner Excellence programs for potential landlords
  • Supervise program staff.
  • Oversee program budget in compliance with agency guidelines and funder requirements. Prepare and submit reports to CHA and Development office as required and assist with preparation of government proposals.
  • Plan monthly events and coordinate event publicity in coordination with Erie’s and the CHA’s Communications teams
  • Maintain relationships with media outlets to promote CHA programs through Latino print, TV, and social media.
  • Collaborate with other adult programs and Erie departments on programming and agency-wide related events/activities
  • Handle walk-in and telephone client inquiries and follow up with clients interested in pursuing CHA programs/application
  • Maintain and oversee client case management system
  • Collaborate with other organizations and Erie partners on advocacy events
  • Participate in all CHA meetings and trainings as scheduledOther duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a social service related field required.Two to three years experience working in a social services or related field required.Proficiency in English and Spanish language/bilingual required.Presentation skills and effective communications skills required.Vehicle required.Demonstrated commitment to social justice and sensitivity to challenges of the Latino and immigrant communitiesAbility to work Saturdays and evening hours and travel to off-site locations.Excellent organizational and communication skills; professionalism; ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Publisher.

Salary Range: $33,000 - $35,000; Excellent Benefits Package
