Public Management Research and Teaching Position, GSU

Andrew Young School of Policy Studies

1.The Department of Public Management & Policy seeks a strong researcher and teacher in the field of public management for a tenure-track position beginning fall 2012. Preferred areas of specialization have not been specified, but broad interests in governance, collaborative networks, stakeholder engagement, and inter-sectoral partnerships will be highly valued. Teaching responsibilities will include master's level public administration courses as well as possible doctoral seminars in public management depending on interests and departmental needs. This senior level position will be filled at the full or associate professor level depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

The department offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, master's and undergraduate degrees in public policy, and a doctorate in public policy. The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies ranks 27th nationally among schools of public affairs and public policy, according to the /U.S. News & World Report/.The school also houses the Department of Economics, the Department of Criminal Justice, the School of Social Work, andseveral outstanding research centers in fiscal policy, nonprofit studies, health policy, experimental economics, and public performance and management. The school is located in new offices in downtown Atlanta at the heart of a vibrant public and nonprofit sector. That location in combination with the school's research centers generates excellent opportunities for funded scholarly research that also contributes to policy-making and management at all levels of government and the nonprofit sector.

2.The Department of Public Management and Policy at Georgia State University seeks a strong teacher to fill a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position in planning and economic development, beginning fall 2012. The successful applicant will be expected to teach up to eight courses per year, but with course load reductions available for activities such as new course preparations, curriculum development, outcome assessment activities, and teaching large sections.Candidates for this position must bring a strong background and commitment to teaching in the area of planning and economic development.
