PROGRAM ANALYST INTERN (Inspector General's Office)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should be pursuing or have a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, public health, social work, economics, or a related field;

Desired experiences, skills, and traits include:

* Professional experience;
* An interest in government/public policy;
* Initiative, determination and assertiveness;
* Work effectively on group projects as well as independently; are capable of interacting with a broad range of individuals;
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access;
* Familiarity with other software programs such as ArcGIS, SAS, and SPSS;

2011 STARTING PAY RATE::
$10.00/Hour

TIME COMMITMENT:
15 to 20 hours per week

DURATION:
3 to 4 months

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Program and Policy Review, the critical functions of the intern include:

* Conducting policy research on issues of importance;
* Collecting and analyzing quantitative data in manual and electronic formats, including the use of statistical software as necessary;
* Researching laws and professional literature;
* Reviewing and analyzing agency records;
* Drafting analyses of City of Chicago programs and policy.
