The Mesa County Administrator directs, administers and coordinates the activities of Mesa County in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the Board of Commissioners. Assists the Board in the development of county policies and goals that cover county operations applicable to the job. Provides administrative support to the Board of Commissioners in implementing the directives of the Board.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the implementation of goals, programs, policies and procedures established and approved by a majority vote from the Board of County Commissioners.
Directs, oversees and participates in the development of the County's work plan; assigns work projects and programs; monitors work flows; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures.
Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the County's organizational structure, staffing patterns, service levels and administrative systems; implements improvements.
Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates department directors; implements discipline and termination procedures.
Oversees the development of the annual county budget, applicable to those departments under direct control in accordance with the directives of the Board of Commissioners.
Liaison to all departments directed by elected officials on behalf of the Commissioners to assure adherence to Board approved policies and procedures and budgetary discipline.
Liaison between Mesa County and other outside agencies and municipalities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Master's degree preferred in public administration or a related field and six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience, or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
