Campaign Director, Green-Collar Jobs Campaign at the Ella Baker Center for
Human Rights, Oakland, CA
*Position Summary*
The Green-Collar Jobs Campaign Director is responsible for leading and
supervising the work of Ella Baker Center's Green-Collar Jobs Campaign. The
director serves as lead strategist for the campaign and works with the
Director of Programs and Executive Director to develop, implement and assess
campaign advancement. The campaign director is responsible for fulfillment
of campaign goals for green economic development and climate protection for
California's low-income communities of color, as related to state and local
policy, state and local organizing, base-building and alliance-building. The
campaign director manages the operations of the campaign and supervises and
develops campaign staff to support the work of the campaign.
*Key Responsibilities*
- Help develop, lead and implement strategic vision for campaign
- Develop and implement campaign budget, operating plans including
policy
advocacy, electoral strategy, organizing/base-building and
alliance-building
- Develop and oversee campaign staff work plans
- Monitor and support campaign staff performance
- Conduct annual staff performance evaluations
- Collaborate with development, communications and administration teams
to support strategic growth, strategic messaging, and smooth
organizational
functioning
- Develop written content to support fundraising and communications
- Serve as spokesperson for the campaign
- Serve as key policy advocate
*Desired Qualifications*
- Demonstrated expertise in local, state and national policy
advocacy for
climate issues, economic development and social justice
- Senior-level experience leading and managing social justice advocacy
campaigns
- Existing relationships/experience working with organized labor,
environmental justice and or traditional environmental organizations
- Experience working on electoral campaigns including state ballot
measures
- Experience supervising and developing multiple staff members
- Strategic, visionary thinking to mesh communications, resource
development, organizing and relationship building to support policy
advocacy
- Dynamic, inspiring public speaking qualities
- Exceptional, versatile writing skills
- Ability to balance and ensure long-term goals, medium-term objectives
and immediate campaign needs
- Ability to maintain campaign focus amidst emerging opportunities and
complex priorities
- Thoughtful, clear and decisive supervision style
- Demonstrated ability to be supported by executive-level supervision
- Demonstrated ability to give and receive direction within
organizational structure
- Ability to give and receive feedback
- Salary 50-55K, Full-time position with full benefits.
